Conventional Metal Braces

These are the metal braces we usually think of, but updated, not the old clunky braces from your grandmother’s era. Today’s conventional metal braces are much smaller and lighter than braces used years ago.

  • Conventional metal braces require an elastic O-shaped rubber ring to hold the arch wire onto the bracket. Sometimes metal tie wires (wires that twist around the bracket) are used in place of the O-rings.
  •  The small metal brackets are glued to the front of each tooth.
  • Patients have the choice of a rainbow of colorful O-rings to individualize their personal style when using conventional braces.
